The Process

We help you navigate wood species, stain colors, and finish options so you can make a confident decision. Our in-home consultations take the guesswork out of choosing the perfect hardwood floor.

What to Expect From a Hardwood Floor Consultation

A hardwood floor consultation with Alpine Hardwood is the first step toward floors you'll love for decades. We take the time to understand your goals, walk you through your options, and help you make decisions based on real-world experience - not guesswork.

Why a Consultation Matters

Hardwood flooring is a long-term investment. The species you choose affects durability. The stain affects how the floor ages. The finish affects maintenance. A consultation ensures every choice is made with purpose and confidence.

What We Cover

  • Wood species comparison - red oak, white oak, hickory, maple, walnut, and more
  • Stain color options - from natural and golden tones to dark espresso and custom blends. If you need a specific color, we also offer custom stain color matching on-site.
  • Finish types - oil-based polyurethane, water-based polyurethane, hardwax oil
  • Plank width and layout - narrow strip, wide plank, herringbone, and mixed-width patterns
  • Solid vs. engineered hardwood - we'll help you decide between solid hardwood and engineered hardwood based on your subfloor, climate, and budget

Who This Is For

Our consultation service is ideal for homeowners planning a new hardwood floor installation, renovating an existing space, or ready to upgrade from carpet, tile, or laminate to real hardwood. We also consult with builders coordinating new construction hardwood flooring as part of a larger project.

If you already have hardwood floors and aren't sure what they need, our hardwood floor assessment and inspection service can help determine whether refinishing, repair, or replacement is the best path forward.
