Service Overview
Professional installation of engineered hardwood flooring, ideal for areas with moisture concerns or concrete subfloors. Get the look of real hardwood with added structural stability.

The Process
Engineered hardwood pairs a real wood veneer with a layered core for superior stability over concrete, in basements, and with radiant heat. We install using glue-down, floating, or nail-down methods.
We help you choose an engineered hardwood product based on species, plank width, wear layer thickness, and installation method compatibility with your subfloor.
We test moisture levels and check for levelness on concrete or plywood subfloors. Any issues are corrected and moisture barriers applied as needed.
We deliver material to your home for acclimation and prepare the subfloor - including laying moisture barriers, underlayment, or adhesive depending on the installation method.
We install the engineered hardwood using the appropriate method - glue-down for concrete, floating with click-lock systems, or nail-down over plywood.
We install transitions between rooms, thresholds, and stair nosing, then perform a final inspection to ensure a clean, professional result throughout.
Engineered hardwood combines the natural beauty of real wood with a layered construction that handles moisture and temperature changes better than solid hardwood. Alpine Hardwood provides professional engineered hardwood installation for homes and businesses throughout the Cokato area and the Twin Cities west metro.
Glue-down: The most common method for concrete subfloors. A urethane adhesive bonds each plank directly to the concrete, also acting as a moisture barrier.
Floating: Click-lock engineered planks snap together and float over an underlayment without being fastened to the subfloor. Quick to install and easy to remove if needed.
Nail-down: Thicker engineered products (5/8" or 3/4") can be nail-down installed over plywood subfloors, just like solid hardwood.
The wear layer determines how many times the floor can be refinished. A 2mm veneer allows one light sand. A 4mm+ veneer can be refinished 1-2 times. We recommend products with at least a 3mm wear layer for long-term value.
Schedule a consultation and we'll help you compare solid vs. engineered options based on your subfloor, room location, and budget.
