Flooring Project
Project Details
Residential install in Wayzata, Minnesota with custom home builder John Kramer & Sons completed February 2026. We laid down 6,255 square feet of engineered European white oak in light rustic grade, with board lengths running 7 to 15 feet. Long lengths like these read calmer underfoot, with fewer end joints breaking up the floor in the larger rooms.
The color came from a custom stain mix we built on site: one part rustic beige, two parts weathered oak, and a quarter part ebony. The weathered oak does most of the work, cooling the natural yellow in white oak and pulling the floor toward a soft grey-brown. The rustic beige warms the base, and the small hit of ebony deepens the grain and the knots so they show up as character instead of disappearing into the field.

Results
A wide-plank European white oak floor that runs long and quiet through the home, in a custom color the homeowner and builder signed off on after sampling. The light rustic grade keeps the natural character of the wood (knots, grain movement, color variation) without leaning rough or busy.
